May was an exciting month for my art career. Ryan Fine Art Gallery in Port Carling , Ontario (Muskoka) added me to their list of artist that they are carrying. My husband Dave and I drove up to Port Carling on Mother’s Day weekend to deliver the paintings. Be sure to check out Ryan Fine Art Gallery website: www.ryanfineartgallery.com
I am very excited to have a gallery that is located close to Georgian Bay, a favourite subject area of mine to paint. Susan Ryan chose almost all of my Georgian Bay area paintings.
I also completed a painting from my sail in the British Virgin Islands. I am calling it Come Sail Away. Although I normally paint landscapes from Canada, I couldn’t resist doing a painting of the gorgeous aquamarine colours around the island of Anegada, BVI.
Here are 3 photos (above) showing the painting progression. I decided to start with a deep pink underpainting, then sketched the scene in a dark thinned down oil paint, followed by painting the boats, the water and finally the sky. It was fun to try a different subject matter. I think I may try one more sailing scene.
