Although spring has finally arrived, it still feels like winter as I woke up to snow this morning (April 3). Surprisingly, I still have had an urge to paint winter scenes of snow and the gorgeous tree shadows in interesting shades of blue, purple and aqua. I am really amazed by this urge, as anyone who knows me knows that I am not a winter person….I HATE being cold. I LOVE the outdoors and the warmth and SUN of the warmer seasons. All winter I am constantly looking at ways to escape the cold and most of all the gloomy overcast weather that we often get in this part of Ontario during the winter months.
Here are a few photos of recent paintings that I have been working on of Quebec cabins in winter. I was attracted by the charm and colour of the houses and the interesting shadows falling on the snow.
